Board Treasurer Still Needed

Dear Members,

This is a follow-up to our recent request for a volunteer to serve as Treasurer on the Durham Park Water Supply Corporation Board of Directors. As of today, we have not yet received a volunteer. The new term begins January 1, and it is essential that we fill this position to ensure our water system continues to operate smoothly and responsibly.

The Treasurer plays a critical role in maintaining the financial stability and transparency of our water system. While the responsibilities are manageable—with just one Tuesday evening meeting per month—the position is required for the Board to function effectively and to fulfill state governance requirements. Without a Treasurer in place, our ability to conduct routine business and plan for future system needs becomes significantly more difficult.

To help clarify expectations, here are some helpful qualifications for the role:

  • Comfort reviewing basic financial reports or budgets

  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, or accounting software)

  • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and ask questions

  • Ability to commit to attending monthly board meetings

Please remember: You do not need to be a financial expert to serve. If you have any of the skills above—or simply the interest in learning—we will provide full support. The outgoing Treasurer, board members, and office staff are ready to help with training and a smooth transition. Shadowing opportunities are also available.

If you’ve ever considered getting involved, please know that now is the time. Your service would make a meaningful difference for every household in the DPWSC service area.

Please contact us as soon as possible at durhamparkwatersupply@gmail.com or (512) 778-6612 to learn more or express interest. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Thank you for giving this request your serious consideration.

Sincerely,

Durham Park WSC Board of Directors
